We're Going for the Gold!
Next month the staff of Dynamix Engineering will be moving into our newly renovated 15,000 s.f. office in the Grandview area. Targeting LEED Gold certification, the new facility features a wide variety of methods that will be used to reduce the consumption of valuable natural resources and the impact on our environment resulting from the generation of such energy.
Lighting power usage is reduced 25% beyond those listed in ASHRAE 90.1 by using a variety of fluorescent and LED sources, lowering general lighting levels and providing low-energy local task lighting, maximizing daylight views through furniture placement and space design, and providing automated control of lighting systems.
The Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems are designed based upon advanced benchmarks for high performing buildings while re-using as much existing equipment as possible. Dynamix is utilizing high efficiency water fixtures thereby aiding in the reduction of water use and burden felt by local water supplies and waste water treatment. The reduction is 30% minimum above the Energy Policy Act of 1992.
Dynamix Engineering plans to monitor and record such energy use and share the information for future projects. In order to create quality in the indoor environment, Dynamix is implementing methods from construction through future occupancy. An Indoor Air Quality Management Plan was implemented during construction to reduce affect on local building tenants and construction crews. Low emitting adhesives, primers, paints, and carpet systems were selected and used.
Increased ventilation has been designed into the space for enhanced quality of air for the employees with air monitoring stations. A control system is being implemented to integrate the monitoring of mechanical systems for thermal comfort and the controlling of local lighting systems. Furniture and wall systems have been designed to provide daylighting views for 90% of spaces, giving each employee a ‘window seat’.
