OhioHealth's Riverside Methodist Hospital — Woman's Health Outpatient Radiology Area

This 39,000 ft² revitalization project renovated the public corridors, women’s health, radiology, labs, community OB office area, microbiology and site and canopy. The project replaced the HVAC and plumbing system’s hot and cold ducts.

The existing S-48 was replaced with a new VAV air handling unit. Wherever possible we reused the existing cold air ductwork to connect new single duct VAV units with hot water reheat. Existing dual duct boxes in the ground floor were replaced with new single duct VAV’s with reheat. Heating water piping was routed to all new VAV boxes.

A domestic water heating system, with recirculation pumps and piping, was located in the water service room to serve domestic water heating needs. The plumbing fixtures were designed with low flow, water conservation features.

The building is fully sprinklered. Piping was hydraulically calculated and limits the maximum water velocity to 20 feet per second. The base design consists of Direct Expansion (DX) cooling for all air handling equipment, including rooftop air handling units and split system critical environment units, where required.

The technology systems included nurse call, patient wander protection IMS, matrix door controls, CCTV, fire alarm, cable television, and A/V for the second floor. The electrical design consists of new lighting Illumination provided via the use of lay-in basket style direct/indirect fluorescent fixtures in common areas as well as treatment and procedure rooms.

New power panels were provided for normal, life safety and equipment circuits. The new panels were fed from existing distribution boards. New automatic transfer switches were created for new life safety and critical branches for the revitalization area.
